I have started reading the 1910 classic The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. It is the book that is supposed to have inspired the book and movie, The Secret.

I read the book once a long time ago. I apparently wasn’t ready for the message then. Today, I realize more of the truth that is in the book.

So far, from the first chapter I have realized:

It is not possible for me to live a really complete or successful life unless I am rich

I have an inalienable right to all the development I am capable of attaining.

My right to life means I have the right to have the free and unrestricted use of all the things necessary to my fullest spiritual, mental, and physical development.

In other words, since it take money for those things, I have the right to be rich

I should have all I need to contribute to the power, elegance, beauty and richness of life

To be content with less is sinful

It is natural for me to want to become all that I am capable of becoming

To understand the science of getting rich is the most essential of all knowledge

There is nothing wrong in wanting to become rich

The desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller and more abundant life and that desire is praiseworthy

Real life means the complete expression of all that I can give forth through my body, mind, and soul

My highest happiness is a found in the bestowal of benefits on those I love

Love finds it most natural and spontaneous expression in giving

I can render to God and humanity no greater service than to make the most of myself
